GSK

Winner - getAbstract Impact Award for Inspiring a lifelong learning culture

GSK used Learning at Work Week to foster a culture of learning through connecting and engaging their colleagues with external learning platforms, resources and their learning communities.

The aims of the week were to:

Increase consumption of learning resources available on various GSK learning platform alliances.
Promote diverse learning formats offered by external learning partners like getAbstract, LinkedIn Learning, and Harvard Business Publications to cultivate a culture of continuous learning. Encourage the workforce to leverage these resources optimally.

GSK's People Services L&D Community team and People & Organisation Effectiveness team engaged with Learning Business Partners from each business unit and collaborated with Customer Relationship Managers from various external learning partners to identify and align with the organisation’s learning needs and challenges faced by them while acquiring unused licenses. This helped optimize the utilization of available resources and enhance the overall learning experience.

The LaWW 2023 campaign was successfully launched on an internal online communication platform. The campaign reached over 43,000 GSK employees. During the event, participants collectively invested over 800 hours, consuming more than 38,000 external learning resources.

LaWW 2023 was inaugurated with a video message from the Vice President of People and Organisational Effectiveness, followed by two orientation sessions facilitated by external learning partners. These sessions served as a platform to elucidate the diverse offerings and features, provide comprehensive guidance on navigating the platforms, and showcase new service opportunities and trends. Around 1,000 employees participated in each session.

All Learning Business Partners were onboarded with the campaign brief, and supporting creatives were shared with them to drive the campaign.

Quick access QR codes for the platforms were shared on TV screens in the Global Capability Centre.

Employees showcased their skill sets on a "learning tree" on site at Global Capability Centre, India. The external learning platforms were featured on display screens on-site to promote continuous learning and employee engagement.

As a result of the Learning at Work Week campaign, employees were able to understand more deeply about the different external learning partners and what they offered.

The campaign has been successful in cultivating a culture of learning, and the team intends to expand on their triumphs by engaging more external learning partners. The team will work more closely with Learning Business Partners, particularly where alternative languages are required, in order to further enhance their efforts. Furthermore, they plan to incorporate more leaders and encourage their active involvement to heighten awareness, engagement, and overall reach.

The memorable event came to a close with an inspiring and thought-provoking video message that not only encapsulated the essence of LaWW 2023, but also delved into the practical ways of making learning a part of our daily lives.
